Naruto Chapter 601 Discussion – The finale begins!

Last week we saw our old friend Uchiha Madara join in the fun.  Is this guy a badass or what?  The recent chapter has just elevated this series back to it’s former glory, in my opinion.  Before we get into reviewing the recent events in the manga chapters, I have a quick recommendation.

If you haven’t watched the episodes in a while, I highly recommend watching episodes 247 to 249 (Where “Madara” takes control of the Nine Tails following the birth of Naruto) to complement the recent manga chapters.  Ep 250 is pretty damn good too, but irrelevant to the current chapters.  I haven’t been following the episodes but after watching these three, I was reminded why I got hooked on the series in the first place.  The pure feeling of what can only be described as “awesomeness” that they put across through the two main characters in the episodes, the 4th Hokage Minato and “Uchiha Madara”, is incredible.  The brief battle between these two is one of the best in the series. I should mention that it’s now obvious that it was in fact Obito controlling the Kyuubi, at least that’s how I interpreted it. (more…)

Manhwa Recommendation – Tower of God!

Not hooked yet? Continue reading, hopefully you’ll be intrigued by what I have to tell you about this Korean Manhwa.

The story starts on the lowest level of the tower, twenty-fifth Baam (our protagonist) has just started his quest – a quest that will surely be filled with much hardship, and plenty of plot-twists. He enters the tower in search of his closest and only friend – Rachel. However, what awaits him on the bottom floor is not his friend, but rather a monster – a monster clouded in Shinsoo. Shinsoo would be a form of condensed energy in the tower, imagine it as a thicker, heavier form of water. His first challenge will be to “claim” something from this monster. In an environment where he is at a complete disadvantage, in an unknown world with unknown dangers, how could he possibly agree to this challenge? This is just the first of many seemingly impossible challenges that our hero will have to get through in order to climb the tower!

Dark Souls (Dāku Souru) – Game Review!

Dark Souls (ダークソウル Dāku Souru) is an action role-playing open world game developed by From Software based in Tokyo, Japan, who are best known for other titles such as Demon’s Souls, Tenchu and Otogi. It was published for both PS3 and Xbox 360 by Namco Bandai International. The game is the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls. While Demon’s Souls was initially exclusive to the PS3, the hype from the fan base brought Dark Souls to the 360 and later to the PC. The game was released for PS3 in September 2011 in Japan and in October for the PS3 and Xbox in NA and Europe the same year the PC version was released on August 24, 2012. The game is known for its considerable difficulty.

The story of Dark Souls is a rather cryptic one, most agree that there is no real story to the game. If the story is there, it’s up to you to find it, through item descriptions and locations, NPC dialog and a lot of it is left to the players interpretation. (more…)

Naruto Chapter 600! How Did Obito Survive?!

Another week of agony over, another week of agony begins!  This weeks cliffhanger (or lack thereof) is not nearly as big as the previous two weeks so I think we should be able to cope.  We’ve been following this manga for years, conditioned and hardened by being struck with brutal cliffhangers week by week – I think we could take anything at this point.

Last week, we speculated over how the hell Obito could have survived the ill fated incident during the Third Shinobi War.  Some say he was blessed with a thick skull – who knows?  At this point, we don’t really know for sure if it is Obito but it seems pretty certain, with Kakashi confirming that it is indeed him.  However, there are any number of forbidden Jutsu’ we may or may not know about that could let someone impersonate Obito, or even resurrect him. Tobi is….!! Naruto Chapter 599 Discussion [Spoilers]

It has finally come! The chapter we all have been waiting for, at long bloody last. Did anyone else think for a second that with the lack of dialogue, the scanlators had just not bothered to translate the manga, just to get the chapter out there ASAP? Looks like the chapter didn’t need much dialogue though, first time I’ve ever seen that done, that I can remember anyway.

So Tobi is Obito, confirming what we all suspected. The excitement doesn’t stop here though, oh no, quite the opposite. This opens up a whole new discussion, things have to be explained. First of all, how did Obito survive the incident we all remember from the Third Shinobi War in the Kakashi Gaiden arc. The impression you get is that his body, or his right side at least, was completely crushed by the weight of the boulders on top of him. In the last page of chapter 599, you can clearly see the right side of his face is badly scarred but somehow his eye is intact. (more…)
